Boiler repair & HVAC in Rego Park, Queens

We serve Rego Park from our Ridgewood shop, about 13 min away. Plumbing, HVAC, boiler repair, heating, drains and gas piping. Emergency calls answered 24/7.

Rego Park takes its name from the Real Good Construction Company that built the first homes here in the 1920s — Tudor and Colonial single-family brick houses followed quickly by prewar Art Deco apartment buildings with red brick facades and ornate lobbies, most of them six to fourteen stories. A second major construction wave in the 1940s and 1950s added the Walden Terrace and Park City planned developments, solid mid-century brick buildings with apartment layouts sized for families. The prewar buildings carry the expected original materials — galvanized supply, cast-iron DWV, steam or early hot-water heat — while the 1940s and 1950s stock transitions to copper supply and more modern boiler systems, both of which are now old enough to warrant serious attention.

Rego Park questions

Our 1920s Rego Park Tudor home still has the original steam system — what maintenance does it actually need?

A well-maintained one-pipe steam system can run for decades, but it needs annual attention: check the low-water cutoff float, flush sediment from the boiler gauge glass, test the pressure relief valve, and inspect the steam trap on the condensate return. The main vents — on the ends of the steam mains in the basement — are also worth replacing every 10–15 years. Skipping annual maintenance is how a system that was running fine in October becomes a no-heat emergency in January.

Who is responsible for plumbing inside our Rego Park co-op unit versus the building?

The dividing line in most Rego Park co-ops is the branch connection at the riser — everything from the wall out (fixtures, supply stops, drain traps, and the branch lines within the unit) is typically the shareholder's responsibility; the risers in the walls and the stacks belong to the building. Your proprietary lease will define the exact boundary. We work on both sides — unit plumbing repairs and building riser and stack work — and will tell you upfront which side of that line a problem falls on.
